Vision Board Art Journaling

I’ve been working with my friend Jami Y. for the past several weeks to create vision boards for different areas of my life. She is guiding me through a variety of different techniques while encouraging me to experiment with my own creativity.

Yesterday after setting some intentions while participating in Jamie Ridler’s Wishcasting Wednesday I was inspired to combine what I am learning from Jami Y. about vision boards with what I am learning from Connie about art journaling.

Being inspired is one thing, taking action is another.

I knew that the images I had chosen for this vision board weren’t doing me any good sitting in a brown envelope where I couldn’t see them and I knew that I needed to add words and color to enhance the message they represented to me. But, I was afraid I’d mess them up once I started gluing, cutting and painting.

Initially my art supplies sat out for a few hours before I dove in.

This was my original vision board. It was too boring. No words. No colors.

Then I let go of my fear and it all started to come together. Once I started I couldn’t remember why I was afraid to start.

My final Vision Board speaks to me at a very fundamental, spiritual level.

This particular vision board is designed to reflect the essence of who I am and who I am called to be.

Have you made a vision board lately? Do you combine art journaling techniques with your vision board making? If you have a website or a blog and have posted your own vision board/art journal pages leave a comment with a link to your website. I’d love to take and peek and I’m sure my readers would, too.

Sandy, I love what you did! It has life! So exciting! I especially like your word “Movement”.

And I totally get the intimidation of putting paint to paper! But once you start, it’s so liberating!

I have a video on my blog that shows my first attempt–you may have seen it already. It’s at http://www.crisbuckley.com/496/make-your-own-vision-board

Love how transparent you are on this blog! An inspiration!

    Cris
