Who I blog for:
My audience is anyone traveling the creative journey of self-discovery; who have a passion for learning and for creating and who are either working for themselves or have the desire to be self-employed, either full-time or part-time, on-the-side, in their spare-time.
I also blog for me because it’s FUN!
Having some idea of who you are blogging for makes it easier to write your posts. It’s also important to enjoy what you are writing about, so hopefully you and your audience have a lot in common.
What I Blog about:
Almost everything I blog about falls under three very broad categories: self-discovery, self-expression and self-employment.
Under these three categories I’ll often write about my personal journey and the things I’ve learned or things I’m in the midst of discovering.
I write a ‘how-to’ blogs to share my expertise. These topics can cover a wide range of subjects. I may blog about starting a business, customer service skills, marketing, writing, journaling, art-journaling, WordPress tips, tech tips, productivity, time management, and many more.
I blog about my personal life, things I’m doing, people I’ve met, books I’m reading and the adventures I’m having.
I also write about my business and the things I’m doing, or things my partner and I are doing. I’ll write about products or services available, upcoming events and special offers.
What you write about is really up to you, but it’s usual best to have some type of theme or topic you enjoy and one your readers will enjoy, too.
One more note – blogging can be more than just written posts. You can include your own recorded video’s or ones from other sites like YouTube.
When I blog:
For the month of December I am blogging every day to get back into a daily habit of writing. Once I’m back in a groove I’ll set some new targets and a new schedule.
In general terms of when to blog there are several schools of thought…
Some people say to blog every day. Others state it’s best to choose a schedule of 2-3 days a week and stick to it. Other experts claim that it’s not the frequency that counts by the quality of your content.
My personal philosophy is to see what works for you.
What are your targets? A certain number of unique visitors, subscribers, conversion rates for sales, social media shares, etc. Once you know what you are shooting for you can see when blogging works best for you.
Where I blog:
I write and post my blogs primarily while working in my home office using my laptop. But, I am experimenting with some new apps making my blogging experience more mobile.
What’s really cool about blogging is you can do it from just about anywhere using your computer, tablet, laptop, iPad or phone. There are apps to assist you to post from anywhere using any device. How cool is that?
Why I blog:
I blog because I have a deep desire to connect with, inspire and help others live happier more fulfilling lives.
And, I blog because I enjoy it, it’s fun, it gives me an opportunity to learn new things and it gives me a way to express my creativity in a variety of ways.
Do YOU blog? Have you answered the 5 W’s, who, what, when, where and why? If you’ve written a similar post share your link in the comments or write a new post and share the link here. I’d love to read it.
