Top Ten UN-Resolutions for 2010

I don’t really like New Year’s resolutions so I made a list of un-resolutions. Then I realized that some of these things could be turned around and used to create a resolution list for life – a life philosophy you might say.

Thanks Sandy, for another great post!

Resolutions are a funny thing. I think they have a bad rap because it’s easy to state resolutions but a challenge to keep them. Most quit the easy part.

To me, New Year resolutions are simply goals/wishes/dreams that just happened to be stated at the beginning of the year. We choose this special time, the New Year, to “resolve” to do something new, change a habit, pickup a new habit, etc. It’s a good time to do so because, like Spring, you can feel and smell “newness” in the air. A good thing I would say.

Many years ago, before discovering the power of goals and how to achieve them, I didn’t like NY resolutions… because I didn’t have a system to sustain them. They would simply go by the wayside, be forgotten and I would feel like I failed.

Now, New Year’s resolutions are a milestone in my ongoing progress to become the best version of myself and to live the best life I can possibly live… one small change/step/goal at a time. I still have weekly “mini-reviews” every Sunday evening and at mid year, July 1st is set aside as another significant time of review. It has worked extremely well and the results have been outstanding.

Resolutions, goals, dreams, call them what you will, like a garden they need regular tender loving care to bear fruit (or vegetables :) ).

    Happy New Year to all!

Great post.. I gave up on re-solutions a while ago and instead create Intentions – The whole idea of determination or resolve makes me cringe. Maybe it’s because I have driven myself – or forced myself.

With an intention – a purpose – I am seem to be more about “letting” – and more curious about how my intentions unfold. More open to what comes to me in service of my intentions.

    I love the unresolve idea!!
    Blessings,

I really like this approach. I don’t typically make resolutions, but I may unresolve a bit this year!

Excellent! Starting with what you don’t want is a great approach.
