This is only my second video. The first one used pictures and music. This one uses video, pictures and a narrative overlay. Each time I attempt to make a video I have fun and learn a little more.
Today’s video will allow you to meet me and take a mini tour of my home office – The Dreaming Cafe World Headquarters.
A friend said to me, “Oh, I could never do that. [make a video of myself] I would be too self conscious.”
Well, I am, too. I don’t think a lot of people are naturally attracted to looking at themselves or listening to themselves. But, I am learning to just accept me, for me – both inside and out. Sometimes the ‘outside’ is a little harder. But, some of the ways I do this is by having my picture taken, having pictures of myself on display, making video’s like this and listening to my own voice. You can read more about my thoughts on this topic in this article, “Pictures of who you were, reflect who you are.”
So, what do you think of my second video, my home office?
(I say first when I am recording, because it is the first time I used my Flip Video camcorder.)

I use a Flip Video:

Beth, You are going to LOVE your Flip. It is so easy to use. Can’t wait to see some videos!

Thanks so much for sharing your office with us on video. My home office, which I adore, has many of the same components- desk with desk chair along with phone and computer, comfy chair to sit in to read, bookcase with lots of books, windows, lamp, vision board, etc.
I even just recently bought a Flip device so I could start creating short videos of my own. Unlike you, though, I haven’t been brave enough to try it out yet. My youngest adult son is visiting right now though, and I plan to ask him to help me learn how to use it, along with the MP3 player I bought at the same time so I can listen to teleseminars when I am out walking or while in the car with my husband when he is driving us on longer trips.
Oh, thank you Suz, for your kind words. It has been a wonderful journey and it’s has helped to have supportive friends like you around.
Hugs, Sandy
PS I only own two pairs of jeans. Think I have to go shopping.
Do you have pics of your office or workspace on FB? I think naming my office will end up naming my company.
Wow! I didn’t even know you owned a pair of jeans, Sandy!! It’s more than wonderful seeing you so comfy and creative in your space. Where the Dreaming Cafe is ‘born every day’ breathes new life and fresh energy into your work and out into the world!!
Connie’s idea is super!! Dirty Footprints Studio — perfectly inspiring!! Thanks to you and Connie, i guess i’ll be naming (more areas of) my workspace…tho i guess i already sort of did a while back…just didn’t think of it quite that way. Thanks again, Connie, for bringing it out.
Such a treat to see you smiling and happy and involved in what you obviously love. Can i tell you now that you almost scared me the first day i met you? You were soooo uncomfortable with the ‘unstructured’ format of the ST workshop. I simply could not see how that was threatening. Then…you began to relax a little and these incredibly moving stories would come from you…we were all in tears.
Now, i realize we were so privileged to be there as the volcano began to erupt, the dam broke and the real Sandy began to emerge.
The world needs your work, your voice, your videos. Told Tom he might wanna check our your Journaling Courses…i think he’d love them.
Keep going…and thanks, as always, for sharing your remarkable journey. You’re a fan-tabulous role model!
Ooohhh- great idea about naming the home office. I like it! Sandy- I think we have the same desk! And yet another reminder that I need to get my vision board done. My clippings and words are all on my dining room table right now. Jami

Thanks, Connie. You are absolutely right. I do need a better name than just ‘my home office’. Thanks. Time to get creative!

I love her ‘how to make art’ videos. always inspiring!
I think you should give your home office a great name instead of just calling it the “home office”!(My humble and kind opinion.) We have a room in our home–the studio–but not just “the studio”—Dirty Footprints Studio—I made a great sign for it that sits on the door as well!!! Makes me really feel and firmly believe that the Dirty Footprints Studio is an actual place–in Phonenix now–but we will be relocating!!!
I think your video is a great start Sandy! I too felt horribly self conscious and ridiculous when I first began making movies as well….but with practice–that will go away–and just like blogging–you’ll find your voice and groove!! I can’t wait!
Also, I love that your vision board is right there smack in front of you! So, so powerful!!
Thank you for sharing!
Peace & Love.
