Starting by Giving

Today it’s official. I am on my own. No employer to stand over me. Just me to manage my day and my schedule.

I am very excited and feel very peaceful in my decision.

It was not just about leaving, it was about living.

It is about working for myself, making a positive contribution to the world, helping others and being there for my family at a time when they need me most.

I feel very joyful and grateful to live in a country where I have choices.

To honor that gift of freedom I decided to start my first day of self-employment, a dream I’ve held in my heart since I was sixteen, to help someone else achieve their dream.

This morning I joined Kiva.org an organization that provides micro-loans to entrepreneurs in developing counties as a means to provide independence and alleviate poverty.

I made my first loan to a group of women led by a 61-year old woman in the Dominican Republic who runs a small eatery. She is the coordinator for her group, Mujeres en Desarrollo (Women in Development), and has successfully borrowed and repaid loans.

To find out more and to make your own loan you can visit Kiva.org

Thank you, Christine. All things in their own good time. Some things are going on offline while others will be online. Plus, just taking some time for me to unwind and clear my head.
    Hugs, Sandy

Congrats on your first day of your new life! I truly wish you all the best in your endeavors. I wish I could devote my time solely to my beadwork, but it doesn’t pay the bills.
