Building Dreams-The 'Secret'

If you subscribe to The Dreaming Cafe’s newsletter or are a regular reader of this blog, you know that I divide my time between building a dream and working a full-time job.

In addition to working mornings, lunch hours, evenings and weekends on building a new life, a life designed around writing and working for myself, I have also used up most of my vacation time, extending the weekends by taking off a Friday, a Monday or both. It has given me a lot of time and freedom to write, to work on my website, to develop several workshops (one that is launching this week) and to outline several other personal dream projects.

Recently I have been pulled away from my dream by several big projects and deadlines at my day job, my current ‘bread and butter’. Longer days and less time off has started to take its toll.

I am tired and I am cranky.

But, surprisingly in the midst of it all I am also VERY excited.

Why?

Because I have realized that I can build my dreams in the midst of day-to-day living. I can build my dreams on the side. I don’t have to give it all up and run away to have time to think and plan. I just need to take one small action step everyday toward my dreams and goals, have faith and believe in myself and my dreams.

That’s all it takes. I never knew the ‘secret‘ was so simple. I never realized that all I had to do was start moving.

Sometimes I have a plan and sometimes I don’t. But, I know what the ‘BIG Dream’ looks like and I just keep moving in that direction.

How about you? Do you know what you ‘BIG Dream’ looks like? Did you know that the secret was to just starting moving in the direction of your dream?

If you are interested in discovering more about yourself, your values and beliefs, what your ‘BIG Dreams’ are and learning to take your ‘first steps’, maybe The Dreaming Cafes’ “Taking Your First Steps on the Creative Journey to Self-Discovery” may be right for you. If you would like more information follow this link: The Dreaming Cafes’ First Steps Online Workshop

The workshop isn’t the ‘secret’.

Taking one small action step today and one small action step tomorrow toward your dream is the ‘secret‘.

Maybe this workshop is one of your action steps, maybe it isn’t.

Just don’t let anything stop you.

You can build your dreams in the midst of day-to-day living. You can build your dreams on the side. All you have to do is start to move. That’s the ‘secret‘.

And, that’s all I really want you to do. That’s what The Dreaming Cafe is all about. I want you to be inspired and motivated to begin and continue your creative journey to self discovery.

Begin today.

Thanks, Sandy, for sharing your “secret”. You have once again perfectly summarized a concept that feels overwhelming to so many aspiring entrepreneurs: that to achieve the BIG Dream, you have to get clear on what it is and then make it happen by taking those first baby steps. You’re such an inspiration to those who say they “don’t have time”. You make it happen.

Thanks, Maureen. 50lbs? Wow. Maybe I can, too. Thanks for the support.

    Sandy,

What a perfectly-worded post! I’ve often likened building a business to losing weight (which I did a few years back to the tune of 50 pounds). The success comes in incremental baby steps, but it’s the baby steps that count. Give up a cookie here, a glass of wine there, walk a few extra minutes each day. The next thing you know, you’re fitting into size 8s!

And it’s so with a business. A lunch hour there, a blog entry there, a small workshop that blossoms here. Next thing you know, you’re Joyfully Jobless (to coin a Barbara phrase).

    Keep at it!
