Taking Action Part 2: Moving into the top 10%

Monday’s post “Taking Action Leads to Clarity”, was about letting go of a dream that I had held for a long time, a dream that wasn’t really my own. Taking action on this dream gave me greater clarity about what I really wanted.

But, taking action leads to more than just clarity. It moves you into a different place, it opens doors, it creates opportunities, and has the potential for reward.

Monday evening, Jonathan Fields, author of Career Renegade: How to Make a Great Living Doing What You Love posted this on Twitter:

It took me a few minutes to put my thoughts into 140 characters or less, but the answer came from my heart-

    “to live free & to help create a world for my nieces & nephews where it is as natural as breathing to do what you love & to share”

My response was chosen as the winner. Winning was great, but answering that post reminded me that taking action moves you one step ahead of everyone else.

Not everyone is willing to take action. They think about it, make plans, talk about it, but never do it. The ‘it’ is just acting, just moving.

Taking action combined with making the decision not not be part of the crowd, to move beyond the ‘good enough’ crowd will take you in a whole new direction. It will move you into the top 10%.

    Being in the top 10% has nothing to do with how anybody else treats you, the ‘breaks’ you get, what you drive, what you look like, what you do for a living, where you live, or how much you get paid.

    The decision to be the best person you can be and the best in your field is a personal decision and a way of living.
