Book Review: Career Renegade by Jonathan Fields

Jonathan Fields is the author of Career Renegade: How to Make a Great Living Doing What You Love.
All of my favorite nonfiction books have three things in common. First, they all have numerous stories that illustrate and support the theme or message of a book. Second, they provide practical information and resources. And, third, the authors’ own story is seamlessly woven throughout the book.

Jonathan Fields succeeds on all three points. His writing is fresh and sincere. His enthusiasm for creating a life and making a great living doing what you love makes you feel like you can accomplish anything.

But, his book does more than just make you feel good. Each chapter in Career Renegadeis filled with ideas and information to help you create your own life doing the things you love to do. Each chapter also has numerous resources you can instantly access via the web and read more about.

I don’t usually recommend a book I am only halfway through, but since I am poised to launch full-time on my own, and this book is helping me clarify some of my own ideas, I didn’t feel it was fair to keep it to myself.

I am only halfway through Career Renegadebecause I have to stop reading every few paragraphs to write down my own ideas and thoughts.

This book is more than just stories, ideas and resources. It is a spark that ignites your own creative thought process and begins to build a raging fire of ideas built from your own passions, and desires. I recommend that you have a pen and paper handy while you read. I would even go as far as to suggest that you create your own Career Renegadenotebook or binder to keep all your own thoughts and ideas together in one place and to add to it as you begin to research and expand on your ideas.
