Today’s Guest: Alice Barry
“You should all know that I, a craft-a-phobe who cuts anything she touches with scissors into the shape of a trapezoid regardless of what’s it’s supposed to be, drew three sketches this morning while sitting on my deck having read Danny Gregory’s book ‘The Creative License’on the plane ride home. And I think you can actually identify the objects. The best part? A poem came out with it all! It is the culmination of what I saw in so many of us at Camp.”
A sketch…

Sketch-Flowerpot-Lavendar
A poem….
“Famine”
It was true
What I knew
What I dreamed
What threatened the seams of yearning in my heart.
It was gone
Before I listened
Before I cared
Before I dared to say, “I love you,” and sweep it off its feet.
It remains
Someplace it can breathe
Someplace within reach
Someplace it can breach the false security of my fear.

Alice!!!
YOU ROCK!! I love the poem, but am totally touched by the sketch. I’m so proud of you and all you do! Never stop believing in your dreams.
Wow. The poem is BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing it!
That’s a beautiful example of what lies in your heart, Alice.
WOW…thanks for sharing. Stunning.
Yeah, I thought her stuff was pretty amazing, too.
Holy bananas! You never know what’s hiding below the surface! This rocks.
