Here are a few of my (mostly) unedited notes and ideas from Denver. (not all of the questions have answers yet):
- People want to be heard-they want to tell you what is in their heart, what they’ve learned; they need someone to listen. Workshop [of my own?]…give each person an opportunity to talk, 10 minutes, 20 minutes? Write first, then talk?
- Dodge City Kansas-Follow Through Camp…Bring copies of Barbara Winter’s Interview to hand out; donate a copy of the The Creative Entrepreneur: A DIY Visual Guidebook for Making Business Ideas Real
for a door prize; copies of my e-book?
- What can I rent or lease? Books?
- Private library-annual membership fee; model after the movie/DVD rental business; offer more current books than a public library; option to buy if they really like the book.
- Is Daniel Pink
on Ted Talks? If so email Barbara. (Googled it, and searched TED and no.)
- Note to self…always bring business cards to ANY event and maybe a brochure. Workshops and seminars are not just about learning, but meeting and connecting to new people.
- Need to return to Denver to meet Tama Kieves
.
- So many dog people and dog ideas (business). Dan would love meeting these people.
- What could I teach at CFU (Colorado Free University)
- Could I start my own adult ed school/program? I LOVE to learn. This would be so cool.
- Define my reader, customer, client…’who wants what I have to offer’ [Barbara]
- Tip sheets…The Dreaming Cafe-one per month or week; category? Sandy’s FAV FIVE?
- Maybe I can sell my ‘Nephews and Nintendo” article-change the article to reflect the positives of kids playing video games.
- Add a section to The Dreaming Cafe’s website of my favorite blog posts.

I keep asking Alice to hold an Entertaining The Idea workshop to give me an excuse to visit Minneapolis.
Wild Rumpus, is on my list of places to visit. I need to get back to Denver, too, to meet Tama Kieves and visit the three Tattered Cover locations.
And, the Bodhi Tree Bookstore in Hollywood, California.
So many places and bookstores to visit…
Just thought of another trip for you to take. You must get yourself to Minneapolis and see Wild Rumpus, an indie children’s bookstore. Any bookstore can have a cat…they have chickens, rats and reptiles. It’s a magical place. The founder, who had worked for B&N, I think, said her goal was to create a place no corporate mind could conceive of. Mission accomplished! Best of all, it’s in Alice’s neighborhood!
