Would I write if no one read what I wrote?

Would I still write if no one read what I wrote?

I ponder the question and need to ask myself first, why do I write?

I write because I am called to write.

It is who I am.

It’s how I communicate best.

It’s how I think and process thoughts.

It’s how I figure things out and find my way.

I write because I am called to write.

My grammar may not be perfect.

And spelling can be a struggle at times.

But, I don’t let either stop me.

I share the words that come from my heart.

I want my words to inspire and offer hope; to encourage and support.

I see so many sad people and it breaks my heart.

In some small way I want to help.

The way I know best is through the written word.

Poetry or prose.

One thousand words or a single word.

An unknown author or a close friend.

A short note or a long letter.

It matters not the form.

It’s the words themselves and the meaning and hope they hold.

The written word has saved me throughout my life.

It’s a gift I want to share and give back.

So that’s why I write.

But, would I write if no one read what I wrote?

I would have to say, yes, because it is who I am.

It’s how I communicate best.

It’s how I think and process thoughts.

It’s how I figure things out and find my way.

There is always one person who will read what I write and that person’s me.

But, I hope, that others do, too.

And, I hope they like what they read.

I hope in some small way that my words can help others, just as others have helped me.

Thank you! I am not a writer but this has sparked something inside me to say, no scream, to myself “would I still xxx if no one xxx-ed what I xxx”. Thank you for putting a voice to what has been streaming through my sub-conscious for what seems to be forever.

Thanks, Mark. It seems like you are listening to yourself and following where it is leading you. Keep going. :)

I know exactly what you mean, Suzanne. But, like you said, when we step back, we realize the real reason we write. It’s nice to know someone else could relate. Thanks for taking the time to comment.

I love this. I will also write no matter what, now that I have remembered, with the help of some friends and the internet, that I am and can be creative. My writing is not perfect, and I have a lot to learn. I hope to be able keep reading your inspirational and hopeful writing. Great read!

I like to think of my writing as Sand Art. At time I get greedy and want others to enjoy it with me. I want a pat on the back or oodles of comments but when I step away from the greediness I realize I write for me. I write to retell thoughts, to express, to imagine, and to communicate.

This was a great read. Thanks.
