Today begins a ten-day sabbatical from my ‘day job’.
As this time approached I was making myself crazy about how I would spend my time.
First, I planned to take several day trips and visit independent bookstores. I planned to create my own writing workshop at home and follow one of the outlines in the many how-to-write books I have on my shelf.
Then, an unexpected offer from a friend in Florida to come visit, veg-out, write and hang out. This offer sounded wonderful to my stressed out, burnt out body and soul. But, although it was the right offer, it wasn’t the right time. There are too many things happening on the home front to pack up and run away for ten days.
So, I’ve decided to experiment.
The next ten days will be spent practicing for the day when I can transition from working ‘out-there’ and writing and building my businesses on the side, to devoting my time and energy to these new pursuits full-time.
I am devoting this time to writing, to building the content for The Dreaming Cafe website and to building the site itself. I will write words and write code. I will stay up late and get up early. And, I will take breaks. I will meditate, read, draw, paint and dream.
The next ten-days will not be lived as an endless to-do list.
This sabbatical is part of the journey and I plan to mindfully live in each moment, as if it will never end.
